How can a church fulfill its mission when it is not allowed to meet together for worship and Bible study?

Eri Boraj (pronounced “Air’ee Bore’ eye), an Albanian student studying in the United States, was baptized in Knoxville, Tennessee on February 16, 2020. This date was also his twenty-first birthday.

It is with joy that we introduce Justin Speer to you as a new member of the WEI Board of Directors. We believe Justin is a Godsend. He is a man of uncommon talent and a deep commitment to Christ and the great commission.

In the January issue of Update, William (Bill) Morgan was featured as “Mr. WEI.” That title was no exaggeration. He and his wife Mozelle have been crucial to the life of World English Institute since 1991.

God is using Gerhard Krassnig, missionary in Vienna, Austria, to reap a harvest of souls among Farsi-speaking refugees from Iran and Afghanistan.

Our last newsletter contained an exciting report from Brother Geoffrey Nyaboga along with a photo of ten people being baptized in western Kenya. In this issue, the story continues to unfold.

Back in 1989, when WEI was just a dream, I shared my vision with the church in Pleasanton, California. Bill and Mozelle Morgan were there, and they immediately caught the vision.

Jim Fox has been an effective and influential WEI short-term missionary in Albania for a quarter of a century. By worldly standards Jim has reason to be proud, but he is one of the kindest, most humble, and most spiritually-minded men I know.

God uses an amazing number of people to accomplish his purposes. WEI is just one tool God utilizes to lead people to Christ. Stories in this edition of WEI Update illustrate how God can use you to save people around the world who are spiritually lost and can’t find their way.

When Blane Anderson retired from the University of Oklahoma in 2015, having served as Chief Financial Officer in the School of Law, he looked for an interesting and meaningful way to serve in the Lord’s kingdom.

Fred Jewell, Chairman of the Foreign Missions Ministry at the College Church in Searcy, Arkansas writes, “Those of us blessed to participate in face-to-face campaigns know that few of the students we teach will be brought to full obedience to God’s will.

Bledar Valca (affectionately known as Bledi) was born and reared in a predominantly Roman Catholic community in northeastern Albania. There, he became a WEI postal student and was baptized into Christ in the mid-1990s.

In the first quarter of this year we hosted WEI Internet Student Receptions in 3 capital cities of the world: Bucharest, Romania; Tirana, Albania; and Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. This model is used to make personal contact with thousands of WEI Internet students who reside in a single urban area.

In January, I was blessed for the third time to preside over graduation ceremonies, preach the word of God, and fellowship with many dedicated Christians involved in the WEI-India mission, directed by Brother Prabhu Kumar.

Lee Allen, WEI Director of Development and Teacher Support, spent two weeks in Albania late last summer and came home floating “on cloud nine.” Lee later sent an e-mail that pulsates with excitement and inspiration.
