“We are running a soccer program called Grassroots Football Initiative (GFI)at Rhema Christian Academy. Soccer teams from different villages participate at the soccer contest every year. The players take the WEI courses using the lesson booklets as a requirement to play in the tournament. The finals of the soccer contest are played during our annual Youth Bible Conference in December. That encourages soccer players and fans to attend the conference and hear the gospel.
“For three years now, we have been conducting our annual Youth Bible Conference for our WEI students and other youths of our community. About 100 youths (students, soccer players, soccer fans, & others) have been baptized during the Youth Conferences.”
Through the years, Aniefiok and his trained workers have taught and baptized hundreds of WEI students at Rhema Christian Academy. The school and the Campus Church of Christ are having a profound impact on Uruk Otong and surrounding villages.
Uruk Otong was once a center of heathen spiritism. Cult priests cast spells on Aniefiok and tried to kill him for daring to intrude in the territory of their heathen gods. Now virtually everyone in Uruk Otong and environs knows about Jesus Christ, and spiritist activities are fading away.
