Introducing New Board Members by Tom Langley
We are excited to introduce to our readers and supporters two new members of our WEI Board of Directors. When Blane Anderson announced last year that he would be stepping away from serving on the board at the end of 2026, we began searching for his replacement. Thank you Blane for your thoughtful and wise leadership over the last several years, and for recommending Stuart England as your replacement.
Recognizing that our current board is not getting younger, it was our goal to seek and find two highly-talented and outstanding younger men who possess the spiritual and leadership qualities to lead and serve WEI ministry decades into the future. We are excited to introduce to you two impressive new board members who began serving immediately by participating in our annual board meeting on February 22 of this year.
Stuart England was born in Texas but grew up in southeastern Oklahoma. He received his Bachelor of Business Administration from Southeastern Oklahoma State University (summa cum laude) 2009, his Master of Business Administration from the University of Oklahoma (2013), and his Juris Doctor from the University of Oklahoma College of Law (2013).
Stuart has been a WEI teacher since 2016 and has enjoyed recruiting new teachers and informing congregations in the Oklahoma City metro area about WEI and its work. In 2022, he received his diploma from World Video Bible School. Stuart currently serves as a deacon over adult education, internet ministry, and benevolence, and he is also a Bible class teacher at the Southern Ridge Church of Christ in Oklahoma City. Staurt is married to Jessica, and they have three children: Joseph, Jacob, and Cheyenne.
Tom Gallaher is a native of Maryville, Tennessee, and the son and grandson of elders in churches of Christ. Except for his time in college, he has attended the Maryville Church of Christ his entire life. Tom graduated from Radford University (1993)with a BBA in Operations Management and a minor in Mathematics, and he was a four-year Division 1 basketball scholar-athlete.
Professionlly, Tom joined his father’s business immedately following college and assumed leadership in the company in 2010, later exiting the business in the fall of 2025. He has served on several non-profit boards, including Junior Achievement, Entreprenours’ Organization, and Hillbrook Christian Camp. He has also served as interim deacon over youth education. He has taught both youth and adult Bible classes at his home congegation and has been a long-time supporter of WEI and other mission-based ministries. Tom and his wife, Susan, have two adult children, Maggie and Josephine.
Welcome aboard, Staurt and Tom. Thank you for serving! May the Lord bless you both as the WEI ministry coninues to grow and share the saving gospel with tens of thousands of lost souls worldwide.
W.E.I. THANKS ALL OF YOU!!
WEI would not be able to reach people in all nations with the word of God without your support, contributions, and donations
Holy Explosion in South Sudan
On January 4, Geng Garang Deng wrote, “I’m super excited to share with you news of the first seminar of 2026, held at the Kuel congregation, a young and vibrant church established by one of the most committed evangelists, Jacob Marial.
“I’m overjoyed to report that 2026 has indeed started on a positive note with 28 precious souls being added to the Kingdom of God!
New Church Planted in Adhotyic
On January 11, Geng wrote, “I am thrilled to update you on the incredible news from our recent seminar at the Adhotyic congregation, a newly planted church in a rural village.
“[Three of ten evangelists] and I held a three-day seminar there, and the event was a remarkable demonstration of God’s love and grace, as we had the privilege of sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with this beautiful community for the first time.”
Geng concludes: “The seminar was a powerful experience, with many responding to the call to surrender their lives to Jesus Christ. We are thrilled to report that 42 precious souls were baptized.”
Demonic Spirits in Mangok Riit
On February, Geng wrote, “I am writing to share an inspiring update from our recent three-day seminar. The seminar proved to be highly effective, resulting in a wonderful response to the teachings of the Kingdom of God. I am thrilled to report that 20 souls have been added to the kingdom through this outreach.
“During our time there, we encountered unusual challenges, particularly concerning two young girls who had been afflicted by demonic spirits which prevented them from participating in the church activities. These incidents were distressing as prolonged prayer sessions reveled their sufferings during which the adversary would cause them to become unconscientious. Recognizing the urgency of their situation, we prayed fervently for both girls and engaged their families, encouraging them to seek liberation from such affliction by turning to the Lord.
“In a remarkable turn of events, we were able to baptize both girls with their families, bringing them into the fold of the church and away from the practices that had previously caused them distress.”
48 New Christians in Wunthur
On January 18, Geng Garang Deng wrote, “Recently [one of the ten evangelists] and I had the privilege of conducting a seminar in Wunthur, a newly established congregation. For many in the village, this seminar marked their first encounter with the transformative message of salvation, and they welcomed it with open arms.
“By God’s grace, we were able to baptize 48 souls who have now become part of the ever-expanding Kingdom of God.”
Partnering With Starfish Foudation
It has been pure joy for WEI to partner with Starfish Foundation in the most exciting and productive mission work in modern times, namely the historical restoration movement in and around Aweil, South Sudan. The Starfish Foundation was founded by two mission-minded by men in Wichita Falls, Texas, Dennis Cady and Chuck Dennis.
Chuck writes, “We [Dennis and I]partnered in 2011 to go to South Sudan. We never dreamed it would result in the phenomenal growth that has taken place. As of April 4, 2026, there had been 2,205 baptisms and 67new congregations started this year. That is on top of 7,523 baptisms and 193 congregations for the previous three years.”
When asked, “What impact has this experience had on your lives,” Chuck replied, “We humbly say for each of us, both now 80 years old who have come from humble roots, to have been a small piece of this evangelistic experience—it is pure joy.”
“How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?” – Romans 10:14
Amazing Multi-faceted Ministry
In 2005, Aniefiok Akpan moved to Uruk Otong, his home village in southeastern Nigeria, to fulfill his dream of establishing a Christian mission there. He purchased a large plot of land that had once belonged to his great-grandfather, the high priest of a pagan cult who offered human and animal sacrifices to his pagan god.
On February 24, 2026 Aniefiok, gave a brief historical account of his use of WEI at Rhema Christian Academy: “Shortly after we established Rhema Christian Academy (RCA) in our native village, Uruk Otong, Nigeria in 2005, the church of Christ in Chico, California donated some Bibles and other gospel materials to our school. Among those materials was a WEI Introductory Lesson with the name and mailing address of a teacher named Judy Thompson of California. That is how I became a WEI postal student with Judy Thompson as my teacher.
“I found the WEI lessons so fascinating, and did well, with Grades between 98% and 100% in all the lessons I studied. After I completed my WEI studies, my teacher wrote to the WEI Founding President, Dick Ady, and introduced me as an exceptional student.
Harvest of Souls
“In September, 2006, we started using WEI lessons to teach our high school students English and the Bible on a daily basis. Within one year, a great number of our high school students were baptized into Christ. High school students were obeying the gospel on a daily or weekly basis. This prompted us to plant the Campus Church of Christ at Rhema Christian Academy.
WEISOM Is Established
“Our newly established campus church adopted WEI lessons as tools for effective evangelism. We used our students and converts to share WEI lessons with their parents, siblings, and friends. A great number of them became obedient to the faith, and our campus church started to witness a rapid growth.
“When the need arose for us to train effective workers for the ministry and outreach work of our campus church, we set up our World English Institute & School of Ministry (WEISOM).
“Twelve young men and women graduated from WEISOM. They lead singing. teach Bible classes, preach sermons, lead our evangelistic campaigns at the campus church. Some of the graduates of WEISOM are serving as preachers with local congregations in different jungle villages.
WEI Soccer Evangelism
“We are running a soccer program called Grassroots Football Initiative (GFI)at Rhema Christian Academy. Soccer teams from different villages participate at the soccer contest every year. The players take the WEI courses using the lesson booklets as a requirement to play in the tournament. The finals of the soccer contest are played during our annual Youth Bible Conference in December. That encourages soccer players and fans to attend the conference and hear the gospel.
“For three years now, we have been conducting our annual Youth Bible Conference for our WEI students and other youths of our community. About 100 youths (students, soccer players, soccer fans, & others) have been baptized during the Youth Conferences.”
Through the years, Aniefiok and his trained workers have taught and baptized hundreds of WEI students at Rhema Christian Academy. The school and the Campus Church of Christ are having a profound impact on Uruk Otong and surrounding villages.
Uruk Otong was once a center of heathen spiritism. Cult priests cast spells on Aniefiok and tried to kill him for daring to intrude in the territory of their heathen gods. Now virtually everyone in Uruk Otong and environs knows about Jesus Christ, and spiritist activities are fading away.
Edwin Vicente Survives Stroke
Edwin E. Vicente, WEI graduate who now serves as Director of the WEI Learning Center in Tuguegarao City, Luzon Island, Philippines, had a stroke in late January and thought he was dying. By the grace of God, he survived and is beginning to teach again.
His most serious student is a twenty-five-year-old college student named Demryl M. Labad. Edwin wrote, “He told me, ‘Once a week is not enough to do the WEI courses.’ I gave him the remaining 2 booklets and encouraged him to give time [to his WEI studies]during his free period. Then he returned them to me for checking and discussion of the thoughts he learned from your book. To my surprise, he was able to do it. He said he was looking forward to the next book, and the next, and the next.
“I am attaching a photo of him on his first day and one taken on the day I awarded him the Certificate of Completion.
INVITATION:
We invite you to include WEI in your church budget planning for 2026. Please join us in a concerted effort to lead the whole world to Christ.
Tips for Teachers by Darrell Wallace
Useful Tools for Your WEI Toolbox
“Good tools make good work,” is an old proverb—and it’s true. Whether preparing a garden or crafting furniture, the right tools make a difference. There are a few tools I like to use when reviewing my students’ lessons.
How many times have you had a scripture in mind but couldn’t find it? Whether you work on students’ assignments from your phone or your computer, make this online program easy to access: Biblegateway.com. I use the tool almost daily to copy and paste a scripture into my comments, removing footnote notations and verse numbers as needed. This allows me to elaborate on a question or topic. Adding additional scriptures is a great way to shed more light on the lesson.
Another tool I use helps me catch my own grammatical mistakes and correct my students as well. It is called Grammarly.com. There is a free option and a subscription; the free option works well. Most of us have been out of school for a while, and English grammar may not have been our favorite subject. This single tool makes it much easier to correct students’ reading assignments. It saves time, which can be used to help more students.
Finally, you may already have this tool in your WEI toolbox, but may not be using it. Somewhere on your computer or phone, you have a way to keep notes. Use this digital notepad as a file to copy and paste your most common replies—from your personal introduction to additional notes for a particular question. When I need to, I simply copy and paste into the comments box.
Create your own WEI toolbox. If you’ve any useful tools, please let me know. I’m always on the lookout for good tools.
W.E.I. NEEDS YOUR HELP!
More and more national preachers around the world are using WEI courses in their local outreach ministries. National preachers are our most efficient and productive partners in world evangelism. The costs of printing and mailing has continued to increase over the past two years, additional funds for these materials are needed.
God Answers Prayer
WEI teacher, Kim Doerksen, has been teaching an excellent student in Rwanda by the name of Daniel Ndayisenga. Kim said, “Daniel worked diligently and completed every WEI course that was available in May 2024. Daniel advised me that he needed to be a son of God.”
Immediately, Kim started searching for someone to baptize Daniel, but she couldn’t find anyone in Kigali Layonza District to do the honors. Kim said, “Many obstacles prevented the baptism from taking place. So much time elapsed, with hope, then disappointment, but with faith and continued prayers, our prayers were answered when Lola Crouch heard about Daniel’s situation and took this [challenge] on, made many contacts, and got others involved: John Muhire, Berry Bagget, Teresa Cloer, Chad Wagner, Babara Kee, John and Beth Reese, and Darrell Wallace.”
All of these mission minded Christians that Lola recruited started praying that God would lead them to someone to baptize Daniel. Hundreds of people in several congregations joined them in prayer.
Kim says, “God is good, and our prayers were answered. Lola launched the search on December 5, 2025, and on January 30, 2026, Daniel became our brother in Christ”
Kim concludes, “I am so grateful for my involvement in WEI, and for the many people who were involved and concerned over this one lost lamb. It is a blessing with such work for the Lord. Ultimately, brother Heve’ Mutabazi traveled to Daniel’s location and baptized him. To quote Daniel, ‘My heart is filled with great joy and peace, and I give all the glory to God.’ Please rejoice with us, and keep Daniel in your prayers as he begins his new walk with Christ.”
