Enoch and Jeannine Thweatt led a team of teachers to Taipei, Taiwan last Fall. The group included Doug and Johanna Chason from Auburn, Alabama; Keith and Lyn Farris from Portland, Oregon; Larry Roper from Cookeville, Tennessee; Dr. Shirley Curry from Waynesboro, Tennessee; and Sarah Cog gins from Marietta, Georgia.
In her recap of this short-term mission trip, Sarah wrote the following: “One of the best parts of the trip was teaching the World English Institute (WEI) materials to our students in Taipei.
“Our students (those wonderful people who have a desire to learn or improve their English) come to us seeking one thing (English lessons), and through God’s help, we give them something much more valuable—an introduction to JEHOVAH GOD.
“There’s always great interest in ‘free’ English lessons. About seventy people expressed ‘interest’ in the program. Forty-two (42) signed up and attended some or all of their lessons. Twenty-six (26) completed all of the lessons in their course of study.
“Each teacher begins the day with prayer, prays throughout the day, and prays a prayer of thanksgiving at the end of the day.
“This year, Su Baba and Su Mama (Enoch and Jeannine Thweatt) planned ‘graduation’ to occur at the first annual Thanksgiving dinner. Yes, we celebrated Thanksgiving with turkey, KFC, Pizza Hut, and all the trimmings. It was a great success. The students made it an evening to remember. After dinner, the students were given their completion certificates and Bibles with their names engraved on the cover.”
