About two years ago, the Ethiopian government offered to give the Church of Christ a plot of land in Awassa, Ethiopia’s third largest city, on the condition that the church erect a quality building on it and teach English.
Samuel Abebe, a structural engineer and WEI graduate drew up a set of plans, the government approved the plans, and the church in Fort Smith funded the construction of the building. Behailu Abebe and other church leaders decided to use WEI materials for teaching English and the Bible
As indicated in the picture, this building will serve several purposes. It will be a WEI center, a WBS center, a Sunset International Bible Institute center, a Computer center, and a place of worship for the church. A school for deaf children is next door.
John Ed Clark and I, and others, are scheduled to go to Awassa in May or June to help celebrate the grand opening of this new building—a building that will be used daily to build up the kingdom of Christ.
