In 2005, Aniefiok Akpan moved to Uruk Otong, his home village in southeastern Nigeria, to fulfill his dream of establishing a Christian mission there. He purchased a large plot of land that had once belonged to his great-grandfather, the high priest of a pagan cult who offered human and animal sacrifices to his pagan god.
On February 24, 2026 Aniefiok, gave a brief historical account of his use of WEI at Rhema Christian Academy: “Shortly after we established Rhema Christian Academy (RCA) in our native village, Uruk Otong, Nigeria in 2005, the church of Christ in Chico, California donated some Bibles and other gospel materials to our school. Among those materials was a WEI Introductory Lesson with the name and mailing address of a teacher named Judy Thompson of California. That is how I became a WEI postal student with Judy Thompson as my teacher.
“I found the WEI lessons so fascinating, and did well, with Grades between 98% and 100% in all the lessons I studied. After I completed my WEI studies, my teacher wrote to the WEI Founding President, Dick Ady, and introduced me as an exceptional student.
