One of the remarkable things about being a WEI teacher is that, while being called “teacher” and various other terms of honor, I find myself learning from my students.

I am taught by the hard question.  Figuring out how to respond non-defensively, non-argumentatively, with an open mind, not cutting off communications by the tone of an answer, has made me grow.

I am taught by the simple question. Often the simple statement or question from a student awakens in me the beauty of the Gospel and its message.

I am taught by “advanced” discourses written by students who have incredible depth of understanding and insight communicated in their reading lesson essay questions. Amazing.

I am taught by students “disclosing” sincerely deep personal information and experiencing them applying the Gospel to themselves and their situation.  God is near. God gives the increase.

I am taught by the rhythm of working with WEI student lessons arriving, grading, and responding to essay questions.  Surprise, smiles, more surprise, and the presence of opportunity to witness the unexpected happening and being shared by the students brings joy to my heart.

I am taught that “I am being taught” by this opportunity to be a World English Institute teacher.

I am being taught to rejoice that a few people created the World English Institute website tool for Internet Evangelism.  Many more keep it going, many teach, and we all get to go around the world to far off places finding people who want to learn English and then discover they have found God.

I am taught myself to be an instrument in the WEI system, taking “prospective” students and helping many become “real” students.  I am learning new personal skills to help attract and retain many who make that “first click” so easily on a free English course.  And as the “claimed student” checks out the WEI lessons, always being optimistic and positive that the Gospel seed is being sown and watered, that I am “fishing” for Jesus, and that God will give the increase.

I am taught to see God working through me and the WEI tool to change people’s lives. I have been changed and taught by God that I too can go into all the world and preach the Gospel. I can feel glad and fulfilled in this work that has changed my own life profoundly.
