December 11, 2010
Although we did not reach our goal of doubling in 2010, it has been a busy year. More than 107,000 registrations have been received from every nation on earth!
Teachers Chuck & Cathy Gusek and Larry Pruitt inspired the Hanceville, AL church to help the Akpans in Nigeria with their projects. Several members there and at the Peninsula church in Portland, OR are now studying with those contacts via regular mail.
David and Galina Binkley continued teaching their Ukranian students via the Internet while they are back in Alabama, and they are planning to host a short-term mission next summer. Norris and Sali Cline continue via the Internet with students they had in Shanghai.
Students have been baptized in Sudan, Montenegro, China, and the Middle East. Former students in India and Crete are teaching and baptizing others, and the church is growing!
The number of students in Mongolia continues to grow, but there are no congregations there. One student wrote, “My best thing learned from these reading assignments is knowledge about the Lord because I have never read the Bible.” Who will teach, and who will go to follow up?
A fundraising dinner sponsored by the Katy, TX church resulted in a few additional Internet teachers. Bob taught on evangelism at a Sojourners workshop, and eight new teachers began. Katheryn Haddad wrote an article for the Nov/Dec Christian Woman magazine; several responded and are already teaching. One wrote, “I’m so glad to be part of this program. It seems there are SO many people wanting to take the courses, and not enough teachers.” Another wrote, “I had been feeling that I was wasting my abilities. It wasn’t entirely true, but this is better.”
Even more can be accomplished in 2011. If you have been considering adding Internet teaching to your evangelism tools, don’t let Satan snatch the idea from your heart, but this very day email jrtowell@aol.com. If you can send and receive email, you can teach on the Internet.
Matthew 9:37, 38.
