When Edwin E. Vicente enrolled in WEI as an Internet student several years ago, he was a Roman Catholic and a well-known Ballet instructor at a high school on Luzan Island in the Philippines. As Edwin studied under Rocky Thurman, he found something for which his soul was yearning. He found God. That is, God found him. As he studied the WEI lessons, he heard Jesus say to him, “Follow me, and I will make you a fisher of people.” He responded wholeheartedly to the Lord’s call, and he discovered that following Jesus gave him great spiritual satisfaction.
Edwin writes, “Since moving to Tuguegarao, by the grace of God, I have baptized 4 new believers into Christ. Attached to this email are three photos of the most recent baptism, my dear friend and laundry woman, Mrs. Luciana B. Ramay, 63 years old with three children. She works as a laundrywoman and a nanny. This is her only source of income which supports her family.
“She washes my clothes weekly. One day she asked me about WEI. That is how it started. Then we began the classes.
“After studying the Bible with her, she accepted the Lord’s invitation and supported my mission wholeheartedly. Her transformation gives me renewed strength and confirms my calling.”
“Now I am pleased to tell you that there are 5 more people who are about to undergo baptism.”
Editor’s note: Edwin has been supplementing his income by teaching ballet dancing, but his heart is in ministry. He has decided to resign from his work as a ballet teacher and transition to full-time ministry. To accomplish his goal, we need to raise an additional $100 a month to supply his needs. Edwin is a man of tremendous faith. God is blessing his ministry, and he believes that God will not forsake him in his time of need.
