When Tom Langley and I visited the church in Timisaora in April 2003, Frank Thornton and Nicola were planning summer activities. They were preparing for a medical clinic, an evangelistic campaign in Timisaora and a WEI campaign in Lugoj.
According to Tallulah Thornton, “the Timisaora church began with Nicola Corded and his years of searching for a way to learn English. Nicola was traveling home from work in 1990 and decided to buy a newspaper, which was not a daily habit. On the last page, he found a World English Institute advertisement. Nicola responded to the ad, and within a few weeks, he received study materials. He continues to say, ‘That was the beginning of a new life.’
“In 1993, Nicola and his wife Radical were baptized in Bravos. Upon returning to Timisaora, they invited friends to their apartment to read the Bible, sing and pray. So began the Timisaora church.
“In 1994, the Hartselle [AL] congregation became aware of these Christians. With help from a church in Arkansas, a building was bought to provide the Christians a place to worship.”
Nicola concludes, “In 1995, there were five of us. Since that time, the Lord has increased the number to 91 members and a host of friends who are regular in attendance. The church is growing in numbers and in spiritual maturity at Timisaora.”
