Five year ago, Glenn Cash and I led a WEI summer campaign in Fort Portal, Uganda where Glenn’s son Jeff serves as a missionary. Six people were baptized into Christ during the campaign, but some of the seeds planted that summer are just now bearing fruit.
Glenn writes, “In the year 2000, when the WEI team went to Ft. Portal, a young man was invited to come to study the lessons. He came and was given a Bible by Ronald, but did not continue through the entire course. However, he was in the church building one day reading his new Bible. One of the men came over and sat down beside him, encouraging him to read God’s word. He continued to read even though he dropped out of the studies.
“When he moved to Entebbe, he looked for the church of Christ, but instead found the Church of Christ of Latter Day Saints. They drew him into their fellowship, but in time he thought to himself that this was not what he was reading in the Bible.
“After moving back to Ft. Portal, he went to the place where the church had met, but the church had moved, and he didn’t know where. Then, one day, he saw Jeff’s pickup and finally found Jeff. He asked if he could have some Bible studies, because he really wanted to learn about God’s will, particularly concerning baptism.
“They studied, and the young man was baptized this week.
“We never know what seeds are planted or when God will bring forth fruit. This young man was impressed by an encouragement to read the Bible. Nearly five years later, he has now put on Christ and is our brother.”
