WEI Elementary Lessons
The WEI Elementary English and Bible course series consist of three books. Each book contains thirteen simple English grammar lessons and thirteen simple reading assignments from the Bible. This course mirrors the WEI Intermediate Course in content and serves as a simplified copy and introductory course to the WEI Intermediate Course. As with the Intermediate Course, the Elementary Course Bible lessons point students to the coming eternal kingdom which would be fulfilled in history by Jesus, the prophesied coming king of this kingdom.
All three books in the Elementary course were written at a pre-fourth grade level. Although the course was written with children in mind and provides games and activities suited for children, it also serves as an adequate instructional tool for post-beginner adult English students.
- Book One, introduces students to nouns, adjectives, verbs, and adverbs. The grammar lessons are followed by short Bible reading assignments. The Bible reading assignments cover stories about God who created everything and draws simple truths from the biblical accounts of Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel, Noah, Abraham, and Isaac, and Rebekah.
- Book Two introduces students to verbs, adverbs, prepositions, and parts of speech including synonyms, antonyms, and homophones. The short grammar lessons are followed by simple Bible reading assignments. The Bible reading assignments cover stories about Jacob and Esau, Joseph, Moses, Joshua, David, Solomon, and Elijah.
- Book Three serves as a review of nouns and verbs and introduces students to sentence structure and English vocabulary. The Bible reading assignments follow each grammar lesson and cover stories about Isaiah, Jesus as God’s son, the kingdom of God, Jesus the king, Jesus’ life, Jesus’ teachings, Jesus’ death, the establishment of the kingdom of God, and the spread of Christianity.
Lessons are written on a fourth or fifth grade level.
